Junior & Youth Girls Football
The development of a participation pathway for female participants beyond AFL Auskick is critical to the long-term growth and development of the game.
Currently female participants can participate in NAB AFL Auskick (5 – 12 years) and mixed junior and youth competitions (8 – 14 years).
For the safety of female participants the AFL's Junior Match Policy states that female participants who turn 14 years by January 1 in the year of play will be excluded from playing in any competition that is not a female competition conducted specifically for females.
It is also well documented that girls want to play in single-gender competitions.
